Often referred to as being 'Down Under', due to being literally the other side of the world, Australia is never the less considered to be one of the most idealistic destinations for many UK citizens. People are drawn by this vast country's wealth of natural attractions, such as the Great Barrier Reef, Ayers Rock and the numerous beaches.
The largest Australian cities, such as Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane offer visitors all the facilities and attractions expected from such cosmopolitan centres, such as great shopping, theatres and galleries. These coastal, sun-soaked cities afford the bonus of great beaches and parks, often located within walking distance of the main centres.
Accommodation need not be expensive in these Australian cities. There are a wealth of options when looking for Melbourne accommodation and most cater for the budget and standard of the traveller.
As is the case with anything in life, you do get what you pay for when booking accommodation in Australia. For example a room with a view of Sydney Opera House would be beyond the budget of many visitors.
There are, however, some great hotel deals to be found just beyond the main tourist areas, where you will be able to be comfortably rested before embarking on the 24 hour or so flight back to the UK!
